The March edition of This Old House magazine will recognize Monroe's historic Garden District as one of the Top 51 best old house neighborhoods in the United States.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo said he was thrilled over the announcement. He said it showed Monroe is garnering national attention through a variety of venues such as economic development and tourist attractions.

"We are, again, elated that the city of Monroe continues to be recognized nationally for excellence," Mayo said. "In addition to having our city being ranked in the top 10 housing markets, the Garden District residents make us proud to rank in the Top 51 best old house neighborhoods."
