Representatives with Louisiana Workforce Commission met with local officials late last week to review an employment and industrial forecast for the region over the next several years.

Louisiana Workforce Commission deputy executive director Tia Edwards said the commission has been conducting regional meetings to provide local business leaders with an employment forecast conducted by LSU's Division of Economic Development.

The preliminary 2018 employment and industrial forecast for the Monroe region projects the area will have almost 11,000 total new jobs by 2018.
