Richwood preps for playoff run
The Richwood Rams (12-10) downed the Caldwell Spartans 50-43 last week to claim third-place in district 2-3A. The Rams are behind Carroll and Rayville in the standings but completed a two-game series sweep of the Spartans with the win on Friday.
Richwood pressured Caldwell into uncharacteristic turnovers all night long. Caldwell climbed back into the game with a furious second half rally, but came up just short of trumping the Rams for the first time in district play. The experienced and battle-tested Spartans began the year 25-0 and were ranked No.1 in the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association polls for weeks until their district opening loss to Carroll on Jan 12.
Caldwell went on to lose seven of their final 10 regular season games.
