Story Archives: Sheriff's sale scheduled for speedway

Sheriff's sale scheduled for speedway
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office has taken possession of the North Louisiana Motor Speedway and will sell the property at a public auction in March.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney said in his 35 years in law enforcement, he's never seen a racetrack seized and sold at public auction. The North Louisiana Motor Speedway also could be the largest piece of property ever seized by the sheriff's office, he said.
Toney is hopeful the speedway will be bought and put back to use.

"We'd like for someone to buy it and turn it into a successful operation," Toney said. "We're anxious for someone to buy it and we're hopeful there's someone out there capable of buying it because it's a nice attraction for our area."
