Saints complete magical run
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
With their 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday, the Saints completed a magical run captivated most of an entire nation.

Early Neilson Co. ratings have reported that 106.5 million people watched the Saints go from underdog to world champion against the Colts and New Orleans-native Peyton Manning on Sunday night.

It was the highest rated television program in American history and eclipsed the 105.97 million rating that the series finale of M*A*S*H used to hold the record since 1983. While Drew Brees was completing a record tying 32-of-39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns, almost 8 million more American households were watching this Super Bowl than in 2009 when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals. The game was one for the ages with the Saints overcoming a 10-0 first quarter deficit.
