Northeast Louisiana is poised to become the fastest growing region in the state in light of economic development activity that occurred here in 2009.

Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret delivered that message Tuesday at a meeting of regional economic development officials. The meeting was held at city council chambers at Monroe City Hall.

That's because of a number of economic development announcements in 2009 that included V-Vehicle's decision to locate in Ouachita Parish, the merger of CenturyTel and Embarq, Gardner Denver Thomas' expansion project, ConAgra's move into Richland Parish and Foster Farms' acquisition of a poultry plant in Union Parish.
