Stockton still making positive impact

Even after all these years, local basketball legend Roger Stockton says coaching the game of basketball is still one of the best things in life.

Stockton is currently enjoying success as head coach of boys basketball at River Oaks. He won his 500th career game last season and is building toward 550.

Stockton, 60, first came into the local basketball spotlight as a two-time all-conference player for the Northeast Louisiana University Indians, now known as the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Stockton made All-Gulf States Conference as a sophomore and junior and the Indians left the Gulf States Conference to play as an independent team during his senior campaign of 1971.
