A nationally-known speaker and a foremost authority on Charles Dickens, Dr. Elliot Engel delighted and entertained the English-Speaking Union on Thursday, Jan. 28, at a Bayou DeSiard Country Club dinner meeting.

Engel averages 2,500 lectures a year, from town hall meetings of several hundred to eager elementary school students.

Minette Saber, program vice-present, recognized Jan Hayden, the founder of the Monroe ESU Branch, before her clever introduction of Dr. Engel.
