Arnold receives academic award
Former West Monroe resident Emily Carver Arnold was recently named a recipient of the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges award.
Twenty students from La. Tech University were chosen to receive this nationally recognized award from the American academic community.
Arnold is the daughter of Gary and Sherry Carver of West Monroe, and the grand-daughter of Charles and Evie Martin of Monroe and Dr. Belford and Joan Carver of Hammond. She was a 2006 graduate of West Ouachita High School and is currently a senior at La. Tech University.
Her major is Elementary Education and she will graduate in March 2010. Also chosen as a recipient was Emily's husband, Brent Arnold, who is a Senior in Biomedical Engineering and plans to graduate from La. Tech in May 2010.

ULM student elected to national board
Brook Sebren of Rayville, a junior entrepreneurship major at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, was recently elected the National Undergraduate Chairman of Kappa Alpha Order.
The KA National Undergraduate Chairman serves as an ex-officio member of the Executive Council, and is elected annually at the Undergraduate Conference during the January meeting the National Leadership Institute.
Sebren will be the primary liaison between the Executive Council and undergraduate members. As chairman, he also represents KA at the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon in Las Vegas.
 
Monroe student earns honors at SLU
Southeastern Louisiana University has named 4,506 students to its honors list for the fall 2009 semester.
Stefanie M. Moothart of Monroe earned honors on the President's List. To be named to the President's List, students must have earned a 3.5 or better grade point average.

Delta hires Adkins as PR director
Louisiana Delta Community College recently named Darian Adkins as its new director of public relations.
Adkins replaces Bob Jordan, who recently retired after serving in the position for three years.
Louisiana Delta Community College is awaiting the arrival of the new Director of Facilities and will soon hire a Director of Institutional Advancement.
