SCV honors member for act of heroism Ted Kincannon, First Lt. Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans-Major Thomas McGuire Camp was recently awarded the J. Edgar Hoover Law & Order Medal at the annual Lee-Jackson Dinner.
This medal is given to law enforcement personnel for outstanding acts of heroism in the face of extreme danger. Kincannon, a veteran reserve officer with the Monroe Police Department, has been a member of the police "Jump Team" and is a master rappelling instructor with the department.
The medal was given because Kincannon was instrumental in the rescue of a communications worker stranded and unresponsive on a communication tower.
He completed successfully a physically demanding rescue, a life was saved, and no injuries were incurred by anyone. The success of this rescue was largely due to Kincannon's selfless, professional and determined work.
