Councilman Katz remembered
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Monroe City Councilman Ben Katz passed away Wednesday morning at Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 71.

Mayor Jamie Mayo ordered flags lowered to half-staff at Monroe City Hall in honor of Katz.
Mayo and members of the city council said the city lost a respected leader and friend when Katz died.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Kay (Ben Katz's wife) and the Katz family during this time of bereavement," Mayo said. "Ben has made a significant impact on city government for several years."
