West Monroe officials urge local residents to volunteer on Martin Luther King Day to help paint the seawall along Trenton Street.

West Monroe Community Development recently received a "Building Healthy Communities" grant from The Home Depot to sponsor the seawall beautification Project on Trenton Street.

Vicki Hilbun, director of West Monroe's Section 8 Housing, said several groups are partnering to revitalize the seawall. They include Keep West Monroe Beautiful, the West Monroe Community Development Department and AmeriCorps.
