Sterlington officials expect a bright new year as the town continues to build on recent successes.

That's according to Mayor Vern Breland, who expects Sterlington will continue to grow in spite of an uncertain economy.

"2009 was a very trying year with the economy and the uncertainty in the financial markets, but Sterlington was able to hold its own," Breland said. "Keystone Plaza is full and we are looking forward to the new restaurant, The Flying Avacado, which should open some time this month in Keystone Plaza. All of them (businesses) seem to be doing great."
