Gift more than just set of wheels

Carla Thompson will start the New Year with a vehicle to call her own thanks to an anonymous donor and several local organizations.

Representatives with Bumper-to-Bumper Auto Parts, Burl's Auto Repair, Charity Cars and The Wellspring presented Thompson with a SUV Tuesday during a special ceremony at The Wellspring's office on Jackson Street in Monroe.

Thompson hugged and thanked the people who gathered as they handed her the keys to her new SUV. Her children quickly grabbed her and wanted to test out their new ride.
"I think my girls are just as excited as I am," Thompson said.
