Not everyone in northeast Louisiana has a family to celebrate Christmas with or a home to do it in, so The Wellspring hopes people will reach out and help the homeless this holiday season, and throughout the new year as well.

Sarah Johnson is director of The Wellspring, which assists many local families with a variety of issues, including homelessness.

She said homelessness is like a number of different issues in that many people here are unaware of the severity of the problem.
