Food bank survives 2009; outlook uncertain for 2010

Despite an increase in demand throughout 2009, and a cut in state funding, the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank has been able to maintain services for local residents.

NELA Food Bank director Richard King, while optimistic about next year, believes 2010 will provide plenty of challenges for the agency.

The food bank set a record in 2009 in the amount of food distributed throughout the region by providing roughly 3.6 million pounds of food.
