University of Louisiana at Monroe's Department of Dental Hygiene will get almost $1 million in federal funds to support its services, which includes the new mobile dental health unit.

Sen. Mary Landrieu announced earlier this week the Senate's omnibus appropriations bill includes $840,000 for ULM's Department of Dental Hygiene. The omnibus bill must be signed by President Obama before it becomes law.

ULM's College of Health Sciences, which oversees the Department of Dental Hygiene, also benefited from the Senate omnibus appropriations bill. The bill provided $476,000 for the mobile dental health unit.
