The Monroe City Council will hire a local law firm to help the city process delinquent sales tax accounts.

Hayes, Harkey, Smith and Cascio will handle delinquent accounts for the city at a rate of $150 per hour.

The city council agreed to hire the local law firm Tuesday during its regular meeting.
City attorney Nanci Summersgill said there was a backlog in processing delinquent sales tax accounts. She said the city's accounting department requested assistance in collecting delinquent sales taxes.
