Neville, West Monroe head to New Orleans Mayo, Norris encourage locals to travel to New Orleans and support teams Two local schools will converge on the Louisiana Superdome this Saturday as Neville and West Monroe play for their respective class 4A and 5A championships this weekend in New Orleans.
This will be the first time that two parish schools have played in the Superdome since 2000 when both West Monroe and Ouachita Christian School made the trip to the Crescent City.
The mayors of the Twin Cities, Jamie Mayo of Monroe and Dave Norris of West Monroe, are even banding together to encourage all residents to be in the Superdome Saturday night for the championship games.
For the full report, see Page 1A of this week's Citizen. Next week, The Citizen will publish a special commemorative section honoring the Neville Tigers and the West Monroe Rebels pm the accomplishment of making it to the SuperDome. Copies will be available Thursday afternoon.
Subscribe to The Ouachita Citizen, your locally owned newspaper since 1924, by calling (318) 322-3161, ext 201. A one-year subscription costs a low $25 for Ouachita Parish addresses. We honor senior citizens with a discounted $20 per year rate for parish delivery. |
