Old-fashioned Christmas on tap this weekend

This weekend's Christmas on the River activities will feature an "old-fashioned Christmas" as local merchants dress up in top hats and periodic attire as carolers and carriage rides work their way through the Twin Cities' downtown areas.

Pamela Bryant with Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau said if people aren't already in the Christmas spirit, they need a good dose of the "old-fashioned Christmas."

"Most of the shop owners will be dressed up in costume to give that old-fashioned feel, and we'll have entertainment all day," Bryant said. "We'll have food vendors, and the whole nine yards to get everyone in that Christmas spirit."
