For the first time ever, total assessed property value for Ouachita Parish has reached $1 billion.

That's according to Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor Rich Bailey, who filed the 2009 parish tax roll with the Louisiana Tax Commission on Nov. 10.

Total assessed value in Ouachita, which includes property eligible for Homestead Exemption, increased by $50,618,503 during 2009. The increase pushed the total assessed value in Ouachita Parish over the $1 billion mark to $1,050,170,327.
