November is National Adoption Awareness Month

Gussie Rachel tightly held her 2-year-old son Fredrick as they sat at Monroe City Hall Wednesday and listened to other adoptive parents tell their stories.

When Rachel's name was called, she took the podium and began her story. It was not long before she broke down in tears as she reflected on how her son changed her life.

When Rachel began the process of adopting a child with the Office of Community Services, she said she waited months to have a child brought to her home.
