Six local teams make second round The second round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association football playoffs will crank up this Friday with six local teams still vying for a chance to play in December at the Superdome Prep Classic. A seventh area team, River Oaks, is just one win away from playing for the MAIS 2A title.
The No. 2 team in 5A, the West Monroe Rebels, will hit the road for an early New Orleans playoff visit as they square off with St. Augustine (7-4) on Friday night.
West Monroe narrowly escaped the first round upset bid of Brother Martin last week in a 28-17 tug-o-war.
