by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Community banks in northeastern Louisiana have fared better than expected during the recession of 2009 with several reporting major growth in total assets.

Ouachita Independent Bank has grown more than $50 million in total assets during 2009 in spite of the economic downturn. When 2009 comes to a close OIB is expected to have $450 million in total assets.

"This is going to be the best growth year we've had in total dollars," said Clyde White, OIB's chairman and CEO. "We've actually had a better year this year than we ever dreamed it would be."
