Mayo, councilmen tout Monroe's accomplishments

Monroe leaders say northeastern Louisiana is the envy of the state in light of the economic development opportunities that have occurred here over the past year.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo and several city councilmen said no matter where they travel throughout the state, people want to know about what's happening in Monroe.

Mayo and city councilmen spoke to local residents and business leaders Tuesday at Monroe's annual state of the city address. The event was sponsored by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and held at the Monroe Civic Center.
