Ouachita Parish Police Jury officials will look into which parish schools would be the best candidates to receive state funding for sidewalk improvements.

Police juror Pat Moore brought up the state's Safe Routes to School program Monday during the police jury's regular meeting.

Earlier this year, Shady Grove Elementary received roughly $300,000 for infrastructure improvements at the school through the Safe Routes to School program. She suggested the police jury should apply for an additional $250,000 for what she called "phase two" of the Shady Grove Elementary sidewalk project.
