Union official complains about VVC
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A man representing more than 200 plumbers, pipe-fitters and welders petitioned the Ouachita Parish Police Jury Monday to encourage V-Vehicle to hire more local people.
Jerry Dowdy, spokesman for Plumbers, Pipe-fitters and Welders Local 659, said there are plenty of people in his union who are looking for jobs.

"We're a little bit concerned about the V-Vehicle plant," Dowdy said. "We drove out there and they do have some work going on, but all of the license plates are from Texas, Oklahoma and somewhere out of state."

"We've got a lot of folks here in Ouachita Parish who really need work," Dowdy said
Dowdy spoke to the police jury Monday at its regular meeting.
