City of Monroe hire Shreveport firm

The Monroe City Council agreed to hire a Shreveport consulting firm to oversee the city's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program.

Action was taken Tuesday at the city council's regular meeting.

The federal DBE program was designed to ensure discrimination does not occur when contracts are awarded for projects in which federal transportation funding is involved. The U.S. Department of Transportation requires local and state transportation agencies that receive DOT funding to establish goals for the participation of DBEs.
