Clark to take oath Nov. 19 Judge Marcus Clark will take the oath of office Thursday, Nov. 19, to become the newest member of the state Supreme Court.
Clark's swearing-in ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at Monroe Civic Center Theater. The public is invited to attend.
A member of the 4th Judicial District Court bench since January 1997, Clark was elected to the 4th District seat of the Supreme Court in an October special election. He was elected to succeed Justice Chet Traylor. Traylor retired from the Supreme Court in late May to pursue a legal career in private practice.
Clark's resignation from the 4th Judicial District Court bench will become effective Nov. 19. Three Ouachita Parish attorneys have announced their intentions to run for District Court seat Clark will vacate. Those announced candidates are Laurie Burkett, Ouachita Parish Police Juror Walt Caldwell and Jeff Joyce. The special election to name Clark's successor will be held sometime next year. |
