Chiefs try to take down Rams The West Ouachita Chiefs (3-6, 2-3) can make their final case for a playoff spot this week as they travel to play the Bastrop Rams (4-5) Friday night.
Bastrop has been the district champion the last four seasons but has fallen off the Class 4A championship radar this year thanks to graduation of some top flight athletes and an excessive number of turnovers by the young Bastrop offense.
West Ouachita is coming off a 7-6 victory over Franklin Parish for their second district win of the year. West Ouachita recorded just 118 yards of offense in the game, all rushing. T.J. Murphy went 0-for-3 passing in the contest for the Chiefs.
A Billy Minnifield second quarter touchdown run and, more importantly, an extra point kick by Spencer Perkins made all the difference for the Chiefs.
