Story Archives: Lake D'Arbonne closed to fishing due to flooding

Lake D'Arbonne closed to fishing due to flooding
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed all fishing activities effective Oct. 16 on Lake D'Arbonne in Union Parish due to flooding caused by excessive rainfall. Furthermore, LDWF has declared a "No Wake" zone on Lake D'Arbonne and its tributaries.

This closure is necessary to help protect the surrounding homes and camps on Lake D'Arbonne and its tributaries from wakes caused by boat traffic from fishing and boating activities.

During the closure, no person shall fish or possess fish or operate any watercraft in excess of bare steerage speed, which is the slowest speed the vessel can travel while allowing the minimum operator to maintain directional control of the vessel to produce minimum water surface turbulence.

The fishing closure and no wake zone shall remain in effect until rescinded by the LDWF secretary.
