Sandbags available in Monroe Sandbags are available for pickup at the Monroe Public Works Department, located at 1200 Grammont Street.
City Public Works crews have been on site filling sand bags for the past two days. With the expected severe weather moving into the region today and tomorrow, public works personnel are expected to be on site until 6 p.m. to assist the residents with sandbags.
If the weather is very bad at that time, crews will man the sandbagging area until 9 p.m. City Public Works personnel will help residents fill and load sandbags. However, if residents are able to load and fill sandbags, they are encouraged to do so, to help speed up the process.
City Public Works personnel will not deliver sandbags to residential homes. Residents need to pick up their sandbags or make arrangements for others to pick sandbags up for them.
