Story Archives: Child seat safety check Saturday

Child seat safety check Saturday
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, Monroe Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, and Monroe Police Department are sponsoring a free child safety seat check-up event at the Monroe Public Safety Center from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.

This event is being held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Safety Week.

On average, nine out of 10 child restraints are misused. The average restraint logs two to three errors and these errors cross all socioeconomic and educational lines. These misuses may be minor in nature, however some misuses are so severe that the restraint may be rendered useless. Therefore, it is important to have each and every child restraint evaluated by a certified child passenger safety technician.

The event is free, and will be held rain or shine. Appointments are not necessary.
