Neville back in action
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Following their bye week, the Neville Tigers will host the Ruston Bearcats, a team previously undefeated until the Richwood Rams rode into Ruston for the 20-0 upset last Friday.

The contest between the Tigers (3-1) and the Bearcats (4-1) is a key District 3-4A match-up.

The Tigers last played Carroll, where they racked up more than 220 yards rushing.

Ruston gave up 223 yards on the ground against Richwood at James Stadium last week.
The Tigers will look to punish Ruston the same way with their squad of running backs, especially Rico Pollard, who leads Neville's rushing attack in 2009 with 251 yards and four touchdowns.

Jeremy Runner also has posted 139 yards and four touchdowns for the season while quarterback Taylor Burch has added 103 yards and two scores for Neville's ground game.
Burch also has thrown for 553 yards and seven touchdowns, with his primary target being Runner, who's grabbed four scores through the air and tacked on 319 yards for the season.

Richwood's defense held the Bearcats scoreless last week and kept Ruston's passing attack in check, allowing only 38 yards through the air.

Neville's defense also will look to confine a Ruston offensive unit that wants to bounce back after being locked down by Richwood last week.

Neville linebacker Waderrious Sellers will enter the match-up against Ruston looking to add more tackles to his 2009 season stats, which stands at 24.

Donald Gibson, a free safety, also leads the Tigers defensive unit with 20 tackles this year. Andrew Jackson, a defensive back, has 19 stops.
