Hearne plans book signing
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
West Monroe native Dixon Hearne will be at Books-a-Million on Oct. 11 to sign his new collection of Louisiana short stories, "Plantatia: High-toned and Lowdown Stories of the South"

Hearne will be available from 3-5 p.m.

He is currently involved in a six-state book-signing tour.

He is a featured author at the 2009 Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge and other upcoming literary events in the South.

"Plantatia: High-toned and Lowdown Stories of the South" is a collection of 34 new stories, resonating with the voices of laughter and human struggle — tales of discrimination and comeuppances, love and connections, preachin' and prayin', and facing choices along life's journey.

It has received praise from several authors, including Bev Marshall and Darnell Arnoult, and editors Norman German (Louisiana Literature); Billy Fontenot (Louisiana Review); and Darrien Cavanaugh (Yemassee).

Hearne is the author of two short story collections, editor of a new book, "Thanksgiving to Christmas: A Patchwork of Stories," and co-editor of two recent anthologies of southern fiction.

His stories appear in Louisiana Literature, Wisconsin Review, Louisiana Review, Mature Living and many other magazines and journals.

He is one of 50 authors selected to appear in "Woodstock Revisited: 50 Far Out, Groovy, Peace-Loving, Flashback-Inducing Stories From Those Who Were There." This book was recently featured on "Good Morning, America," as their top pick of new books about the event.

Plantatia is available at Amazon.com, bookstores, and Southeast Missouri University Press. Signed copies available from author: www.dixonhearne.com.
