Scott named SEC player of week BATON ROUGE – LSU running back Charles Scott has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' win over Georgia, the league office announced on Monday.
Scott, a senior from Saline, La., rushed for a season-best 95 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in LSU's 20-13 win over Georgia. Both of Scott's touchdown runs came in the final three minutes of the contest as LSU overcame two fourth quarter deficits to win in Athens for the first time since 1987.
Scott's second TD was a 33-yard scamper that put the Tigers up for good at 20-13 with less than a minute to play. His first TD came on a 2-yard plunge that gave the Tigers a 12-7 lead with 2:53 to go in the game. Scott also caught one pass for 15 yards in the contest.
With his 95 yards against Georgia, Scott eclipsed the 2,000-yard rushing mark for his career. He also ran his career touchdown total to 30, which ranks fifth in school history.
The SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor is the second for Scott during his career. He was also awarded the honor last year following LSU's win over Auburn.
