West Monroe Highland Garden Club members, looking forward to the beginning of a new year, gathered at Warehouse No. 1 in Monroe on Sept. 15, for a dutch treat luncheon.

Rita Moore, president, welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order with the reading of the club's gardener's prayer.

Margery Wroten handed out the yearbooks and discussed the club's upcoming programs.
After lunch, members were treated to a tour of the Cooley House, given by Anne Dennington.
Members were told there will be a walking tour of the Henry Bry Historic District — which includes the Cooley House — at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.

The tour will be led by architect F. Lestar Martin.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Masur Museum of Art on South Grand Street. Information can also be found at www.masurmuseum.org.

Members present were Mary Bertrand, Marilyn Daniel, Betty Frost, Faye Haddox, Virginia Harvey, Gloria Jones, Helen Ketchell, Mickey Kiper, Jean Grable Lee, Abuna Moore, Rita Moore, Ann Murray, Carol Tubb, Jeanette Willbanks and Margery Wroten.

The October meeting will be a day trip to Lake Village, Ark., to tour the garden of Dr. and Mrs. John (Max) Johnson.
