The 2009 northeast Louisiana Workforce Summit has been scheduled for noon Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Monroe Civic Center.

Jeff Lynn, program administrator, for the Louisiana FastStart program will be the guest speaker.

Louisiana FastStart is a workforce solutions program that works with businesses to address a company's workforce needs.

Louisiana FastStart's services are provided at no cost to the employer through Louisiana Economic Development. The program, in consultation with the company, will develop a training program for the business, provide the training and assist with hiring to ensure that the company's workforce is trained and ready when the new business opens their doors for business.

Louisiana FastStart is available at no cost to any manufacturing, corporate headquarters, warehouse and distribution, research and development or other strategic facility that commits to creating at least 15 new jobs, or any service-related operation that commits to creating at least 50 new jobs.

Anyone interested in attending the lunch may contact Daphne McClish at the Monroe Chamber for reservations.

The cost to attend is $25 per person.
