ULM fares well at first cross country meet Moses Chelimo and the ULM men's cross country team opened their season in dominating fashion as they claimed the team trophy at the Mississippi College Open on Tuesday evening. The Warhawk women's team also had a strong showing with a third place finish.
Moses Chelimo claimed individual honors in the 4K event for the second-straight year as he finished with a time of 16:20.62, which was five seconds better than second place. His teammate, Britt Koestler, finished in the third position with a time of 16:43.18.
The men's team placed all seven of their runners in the top 20 positions to finish 16 points better than host-Mississippi College for the team win.
Madeleine Robertson paced the women's team with a ninth place finish and a time of 16:41.31. The remaining four Warhawk runners – Lexi Krigbaum, Tyler Blacklock, Denise Myers, and Kelsie Coats – all ran well to place in the top 15 spots and within seven seconds of each other.
Overall, the ULM women's accumulated 60 points, nine behind host-Mississippi College, and 20 behind first place West Florida.
Both the ULM men's and women's teams return to action on Sept. 19 when they host the ULM Warhawk Invitational. |
