Wossman starts regular season at home against Madison The Wossman Wildcats enter the regular season with optimism and hope after a fresh start in 2009 with a revamped coaching staff.
Wossman basketball head coach Dale Zimmerman added the title of head coach of the football squad in the spring. A new district also adds to the excitement as the Wildcats make the move to district 3-4A and add new rivals to the schedule such as Ruston and West Ouachita.
An old rival comes to town this Friday night when Wossman starts at 7 p.m. against the Madison Jaguars.
Quarterback Emmanuel Abrams has had a strong preseason and could be the key to success for the offense. He will have help carrying the offensive load by Clayton Lewis and Herdurius Scott. They each had solid gains during the jamboree last Friday.
While Madison will present a challenge for the Wildcats, the fact that they have played each year for the past few years will make for an interesting contest as the coaches are already familiar with the other's tendencies and personnel.
Wossman will work on improving their offensive efficiency and playing their assignments and angles on defense. The returning starters on defense are expected to be the strength of the Wossman team in the first few weeks of the season.
Madison returns a large number of starters from last season and is expected to be much improved over their 2008 campaign. |
