'Tremendous fans' help LSU soccer set record The LSU soccer team is riding high following its 2-1 win over 15th-ranked Texas in last week's exhibition match, and the effects are being felt at the box office as the Tigers have set a record in season ticket sales heading into the 2009 regular season opener this weekend.
LSU Soccer Season Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased for $35 for adults and $15 for youths at the official website for LSU athletics, www.LSUsports.net.
The Tigers will kick off the regular season on Friday as they welcome the two-time defending Conference USA champion Memphis Tigers to the LSU Soccer Complex as the match is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Tigers have eclipsed their previous record of season tickets sold prior to the 2008 season by 44 percent heading into Friday night's season opener against Memphis.
"We have tremendous fans, and we appreciate each and every one of them for the support they provide us each time we step onto the field," said LSU head coach Brian Lee. "We're looking forward to another great season at the LSU Soccer Complex, and we invite everyone to come out and enjoy the atmosphere."
The Tigers have been nearly unbeatable at the LSU Soccer Complex in recent years as they have piled up an impressive 13-1-3 home mark over the past two seasons.
LSU is 2-1-2 against nationally-ranked opponents at home over the last two seasons with its only defeat coming at the hands of No. 6 Florida by a 2-1 margin on Oct. 26, 2008.
Fans looking to purchase season tickets for the 2009 LSU Soccer season also have the option to purchase the "Ultimate Fall Season Pass," which allows admission to all 2009 regular season home games for both the LSU soccer and volleyball teams.
The pass is $50 for adults and $25 for youths. |
