Retired Monroe City Judge Elvis C. Stout was recently named Squadron Commander of the local Civil Air Patrol's SWR-LA-019 Monroe Senior Squadron, based at Selman Field.

The Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force and is authorized to perform certain assigned Air Force missions. The squadron's peacetime missions include local Aerospace Education activities, Air Search and Rescue , and Disaster Relief. The Squadron recently participated in a successful Homeland Security Air Training Mission with the U.S. Air Force.

Stout has been a pilot since 1956 and has been associated with the Civil Air Patrol since 1996.
