Governor reappoints Avallone

Gov. Bobby Jindal recently announced the reappointment of Gary Avallone to the Louisiana State Board of Optometry Examiners.

Avallone, of West Monroe, is a veteran of the United States Air Force and an optometrist with Vision Associates, Inc. He is the president of the Louisiana State Association of Optometrists and a member of the American Optometric Association.

Avallone was nominated for reappointment by the current board to serve as an at-large member, as required by statute.

The Louisiana State Board of Examiners serves to control and regulate the practice of optometry.

According to statute, the board is comprised of five at-large members, subject to senate confirmation. Members are licensed optometrists selected from nomination submitted by the current the board.
