Louisiana Blaze wins first place The Louisiana Blaze 12U softball team took first place in the 11th annual Ruston Girls Softball Association Invitational.
Local players who helped the Blaze bring home the gold were Maegan Reese and Taylor Wilson of Sterlington, Kennedy Cupples and Callie Teekel of Monroe as well as Makayla White of West Monroe.
The Blaze team is comprised of Ouachita Parish middle school students who compete in softball tournaments all over the country under the direction of local coach Mike Reese of Sterlington.
The team also includes Farmerville, Ruston, and Bastrop players and coaches.
The team competes in the Amateur Athletic Union, or AAU. It is the largest and best-known organizer of youth sports in the United States.
The Louisiana Blaze is currently in Memphis, Tenn. competing in the 27th annual Germantown Invitational Softball Tournament. |
