WM team wins USSSA

The West Monroe Warhawks brought another championship home with a win at the USSSA baseball tournament at West Monroe High School.

The team is comprised of West Monroe area players who compete in USSSA sanctioned tournaments all over the South.

Several top tier competitors came to West Monroe vying for the title, but in the end, the local Warhawks proved to have too much speed and defensive skill.

None of the teams in the tournament could come up with the timely outs against the local squad, while the Warhawks had plenty of hits to supplement their solid defensive efforts.

Local high school talent that play for the Warhawks include: Zach Stevenson, Beau Gilmore, Kendall Robinson, Dylan Burdeaux, Bubba Reeves, Ray Paul Schexnaider, Tanner Noel, Will Bennett, Matt Reeves, Cade Stone, Logan Murray, Caleb Reynolds, and Dylan Edmiston.

Like many high school players all over the nation, these young players have opted to use their summer to improve their game and stay active during the off-season of their school's baseball team.

The Warhawks had the best overall record in the tournament thanks in large part to the tutelage of the Warhawk coaching staff.

The team is led in the summer of 2009 by David Burdeaux, Randy Gilmore, and Kevin Robinson.
