Fourth of July activities planned Formal and informal events are being held throughout the area this weekend in celebration of Independence Day.
Some featured events include:
9:30 a.m. — The annual Fourth of July parade will begin at the corner of Beloit and Pargoud Boulevard.
11 a.m. — The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will provide free watermelon to patrons.
1 p.m. — Bands will begin playing for the Monroe Jaycees Fourth of July Festival. The event has been moved from the Forsythe Point Boat Dock to Forsythe Park due to high water.
7 p.m. — The annual Fourth of July "Hungry Duck Derby" will begin with chances to win up to $1 million. Proceeds go to support the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank.
9 p.m. - The annual Monroe Jaycees Fourth of July fireworks will begin along the Ouachita River. |
