Margaret Manning was recently selected as the eighth grade student of the year by the Catholic Diocese of Shreveport.

The Diocese represent the 16 civil parishes across north Louisiana.

Manning was selected after being named the eighth grade student of the year for St. Frederick High School. She went on to represent the Diocese in the regional Louisiana Students of the Year Awards Program.

The Student of the Year recognizes an outstanding student who has demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability, and citizenship.

Manning is the daughter of Judge Wendell Manning and Ashley Manning.

The Students of the Year Awards Program is sponsored by the State Superintendent of Education through the Louisiana Department of Education and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The program recognizes outstanding students from grades 5, 8, and 12.

Each public system and approved nonpublic school in the state can participate.
