Ouachita Parish Public Library invites the public to take part in "River Reads: A Summer Reading Program" for adults.

In conjunction with River Reads, there will also be a "Capture the Beauty" art contest. This contest is to depict rural Louisiana life through watercolor, oils, acrylics, photos or line drawings.

Submissions are to be no larger than 16"x 20" and framed for display. Entries may be submitted from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. between Monday, May 11, and Friday, July 10. Artwork will be accepted at the Main Branch Library, 1800 Stubbs Ave. in Monroe by Candace Chatham, contest director. Private judging will take place July 13-17. People's Choice voting will be July 20-24.

All awards will be given during "River Ramblin: A Family Fun Event," on Monday, July 27.

For details or questions, contact Chatham at 327-1490 ext. 3027.
