A West Monroe man was seriously injured in a Union Parish crash.

The crash occurred at 7:18 a.m. Friday, June 12, on LA 15 in Union Parish.

In a news release, Louisiana State Police said a 1997 Chevrolet truck was traveling north on LA 15 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle entered a ditch on the east side of the road and the driver then overcorrected as he attempted to get back onto the roadway. The truck crossed both lanes of LA 15 and went into a ditch on the west side of the road where it traveled for about 120 feet before striking a tree and coming to rest.

The driver , identified as 46-year-old Vince Schweinefus from West Monroe, was air-lifted to the LSU-Shreveport hospital with critical injuries. Schweinefus was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol involvement is not suspected. He was issued a citation for Careless Operation and Driving Under Suspension.
