One West Monroe resident was among 127 graduates awarded the Juris Doctor Degree from the Southern University Law Center during the 2009 Commencement, Saturday, May 16, at the F. G. Clark Activity Center on the Southern University, Baton Rouge campus. The graduate is Michael G. Johnson II.

Judge Reggie B. Walton of the United States District Court of the District of Columbia delivered the 2009 Commencement address.

Other law graduates from the area are Larry R. Brown Jr., Angie L. Deal, Molly F. McEacharn, Rokeya J. Morris, and Jessica W. Williams, all of Monroe.
